Although thousands of people work to protect open spaces, the number of award presentations will be limited to keep the honor distinctive and special. Those nominated in one award cycle will be considered for the other award presentations. Everyone nominated for the award will receive a certificate of nomination.
Champions of Open Space: Making a difference.

The Champions of Open Space awards are presented to individuals and groups who have made extraordinary contributions to open space protection in the seven-county Twin Cities by:

  • engaging citizens and policy makers in decisions to protect and preserve natural areas and open space
  • creating innovative solutions to protect and preserve natural areas and open spaces; and
  • providing leadership that has made a difference in promoting the importance of natural areas and open spaces.
